Privacy policy for the website italianoapp.com

This policy applies only to the website italianoapp.com: to running it and to signing up for the app launch e-mail. It is not the privacy policy of the Italiano app. The app has its own, separate policy at kulistakmarcel.github.io/italiano-privacy (currently in Czech only).

Effective from: 2026-11-04
Website operator and data controller: Marcel Kulišťák, a sole trader registered in the Czech Republic, Company ID (IČO) 24582026, registered office Federova 1602/2, 198 00 Prague 9, Czech Republic · contact: ciao@italianoapp.com

1. What this policy covers

Only the website italianoapp.com (in all its language versions) and the list of people who signed up there for the Italiano launch e-mail. The website only introduces the app. This policy does not cover the app itself or any data in it.

2. What the website does and does not do

The website uses no cookies, does not track visitors, has no analytics or advertising and loads nothing from third-party services (fonts and images are part of it). No third-party service tracks visitors on it, not even across websites. We respect “Do Not Track” and “Global Privacy Control” signals by not tracking anyone, whether you send them or not.

3. What data we process when you sign up

Your e-mail address; the languages from which you want to learn Italian (and any language you type into the “Other” field); whether you want to test the app before launch; the language of the page on which you signed up; the time of sign-up and confirmation and your IP address at that moment (as proof that you gave your consent). The form sends the data from your browser directly to the Brevo service (point 5); our website does not store them. You provide the data voluntarily; without an e-mail address we simply cannot tell you about the launch.

4. Purpose and legal basis

We will send you one e-mail when the app launches and, if you ticked testing, an invitation to try the app in your language. Aggregate numbers (how many people want which language) help us decide which languages to translate the app into first. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You confirm your sign-up with a link in an e-mail, so nobody can sign you up with someone else’s address. You must be at least 16 to sign up. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

5. Who works with the data

Brevo (Brevo SAS, 9–17 rue Salneuve, 75017 Paris, France): keeps the list of subscribers and sends the e-mails; it stores the data only on servers in the European Union (France, Germany, Belgium). Brevo counts how many times e-mails are opened and links are clicked (the links therefore go through its server). We have anonymous tracking switched on: we only see totals, never who exactly opened an e-mail or what they clicked.
Cloudflare: runs the website. On every visit it necessarily processes technical data (IP address, browser type) to deliver the page and protect it from attacks; this is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare, Inc. is based in the USA and is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
We have data processing agreements with both services (Art. 28 GDPR). We do not pass the data to anyone else, we do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.

6. How long

We delete the data no later than 3 months after sending the launch e-mail; testers’ data when testing ends. If you unsubscribe, we will not send you anything more; the unsubscribe record is deleted together with the rest of the data.

7. Unsubscribing and your rights

You can unsubscribe yourself at any time, without writing to anyone: every e-mail from us has a one-click unsubscribe link; in addition, on the Unsubscribe page (also linked in the website footer) you enter your e-mail and confirm with the button in the e-mail we send you. The confirmation prevents anyone else from unsubscribing you. You also have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing and to data portability, and you can withdraw your consent at any time (processing before the withdrawal remains lawful); just write to the contact above. You can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (www.uoou.cz) or with the supervisory authority in your country.

8. Changes to this policy

The effective date is at the top. If we wanted to use your data differently from what is written here, we would first ask for your new consent.

9. The Italiano app

This policy does not apply to the app. The app’s privacy policy is separate, at kulistakmarcel.github.io/italiano-privacy (currently in Czech only).

This is a translation of the Czech original. If in doubt, the Czech version applies. Čeština
